KaWaKi Wo aMeKu

Original / Romaji Lyrics | English Translation |
---|---|
konna n ja kitto monotarinai kurai katattokeba umaku iku mono, kane, ai, koto, mou jikoukenji akita | I'm sure someone like me would be a bit lacking for you-- If I say something along those lines, things will go well Possessions, money, love, words-- I've had enough of pushing myself into the limelight |
sanzan WAGAMAMA kattoite kore ijou hoka ni nani ga iru? sonna tokoro mo wari to kirai ja nai | Having already spoken so self-servingly already, what else more could you need? Well, it's not like I completely hate that about you though... |
chuuto hanpa dake wa iya | The one thing I can't let slide is resorting to half-measures |
aa shite kou shite ittetatte aishite doushite? iwaretatte asobi dake nara kantan de shinken koushou mechakucha de omoi mo shinai omoi kotoba nando tsukaifurusu no ka? douse kitai shita n da deki reesu demo inryou darake no fureezu mo kakato mochiagaru kotoba tabuu ni shite kuuki wo yonda ame furenaide yo | Whatever I were to say, Even if I were to be asked back "Love you? But why?" It'd be easy if I were just playing around, but my serious relations are looking all over the place Such heavy words are being causally tossed around without any real feelings behind them-- [2] Just how many times are they going to be worn down into the ground? Knowing me, I'd had high hopes, even if they were fixed races All these phrases covered with quotation marks, And words that raise my expectations-- just make them all taboo Don't read the mood and rain down on me [3] |
hitsuyou saiteigen de ii ni moji inai de douzo | Keep it to the absolute minimum; please state your case in under two words |
moroi sensu hirogeru sono hou ga miryouteki deshou | It's more attractive if they just open up their fragile folding fan instead, right? |
kotaerarenai nara hottoite kure mayoeru kurai nara sattoite kure kanjin na toko wa tsutsunuke de anshin dake wa saserareru you na amai ame ga fureba kasa mo sashitaku naru darou? kono mama kitai shita mama de yokatta me wo tsumutta kaetakatta otonabutta nakushita makimodosenakatta ima ame, yamanaide | If you can't answer, then please just leave me alone If you're just going to hesitate, then please get lost If such a sweet rain were to fall That ignored everything important, but instead just gave you a sense of relief It'd make you want to open up your umbrella, right? It'd have been better Had I just kept my hopes up; I closed my eyes Wanted to change and pretended to act grown up I lost something and I couldn't turn back time Hey rain, don't stop raining now |
sutte, haita dakara soredemo ii kara sa koko itai yo | Breathe in, breathe out But Even so, I'm okay with that-- it hurts here [4] |
aa shite kou shite ittetatte aishite doushite? iwaretatte asobi dake nara kantan de shinken koushou shiri metsuretsu de omoi mo shinai omoi uso wa tabuu ni shinakucha na? kitto kitai shita n da deki reesu demo koushiki doori no fureezu mo kakato agaru kuse mou owari ni shite kuuki wo yonda sora harenaide yo | Whatever I were to say, Even if I were to be asked back "Love you? But why?" It'd be easy if I were just playing around, but my serious relations are in a state of devastation I've just gotta make this heavy lie of a reality [5] That I don't even believe into a taboo right? I'm sure that I'd had high hopes, even if they were fixed races All these completely formulaic, textbook phrases; And my expectant heel-raising habit-- just bring them to an end already Don't read the mood and have the weather clear up |
kasa wo tojite nurete kaerou yo | I'll close my umbrella and get soaked as I make my way home |
The title is originally written in katakana, a way of emphasising things (among other things) in Japanese. It is often used when madness is involved, hence the odd case usage- it can be taken to imply the singer is going mad with her thirst
[1] - 'mujou' is purposely written in a way that makes it unclear if it means 'ephemeral' or 'heartless' and so both are included in the list
[2] - Notable wordplay using the word 'omoi' using the homonyms 'feeling/thoughts' and 'heavy' (used in that order in the lines). However, there is further wordplay with the word sung as 'heavy' being written as 'light', emphasising the difference in how each party sees the words
[3] - Likely refers to pathetic fallacy (e.g. how it's always raining during sad scenes in movies to emphasise the sadness)
[4] - 'koko itai yo' can either mean 'I want to stay here (a place)' or 'It hurts here (a part of the body)' and is perhaps left purposely unclear
[5] - The word for 'reality' is being read as 'lie', making it a 'lie of a reality'. Once again the wordplay with the two usages of 'omoi' is present
